Well guys and gals, it was a tough day for all of us at Clear Lake today and even worse at Lodi Lake:

Clear Lake:

I won it with two fish, a 17.2 lb'er and an 8.2 lb'er. First derby I ever won.

Mary, Carper Rick, Mike (Carper Rick's friend) and Keith Thompson all tied for 2nd place with 0 fish.

I caught both fish freelining strawberry/banana doughballs.

Lodi Lake, reported by Steve Gibbons:

You would have stood a better chance of knocking me out with a hand-thrown dough ball before I would have believed that Lodi Lake Park would produce blanks on Saturday. But it did just that.

Other than Turkeyhunter, his brother & family and Anthony stopping by briefly, it was just Sean and myself at Lodi Lake Park. Weather was very nice, albeit a bit windy but we had the park pretty much to ourselves the entire day.

Starting a Chuck's Point at 8am, we moved no less that 5 times, fed the ducks with both maize and sweet, we did everything right,...yet everything went very wrong. Not only did we not catch any carp, we did not so much as catch a single river sucker, which are just about as thick as catfish, bullheads and bluegill in many of the swims I fish at up here during the warmer months. Even these numerous fish did not make an appearance on Saturday.
